Rudbeckia triloba is a long-lived self-sowing perennial that gives us mounds of golden late-summer stars.

This lovely late-summer delight gives me new life in the hot heat. Though it is a gladiolus, it's much different than the stately towering glads you might know; rather, it is delicate and wispy, bobbing its head above bright green foliage .

I first fell in love with Artemisia as a girl, camping in the sagebrush lands of Artemisia tridentata with my parents, exploring deserts and canyons.
